The Chinchilla, Silver Tabby & Smoke Cat Society

Established in 1908 Founder member of GCCF Please note this site is still under construction

Welcome to our Society website

As its name suggests, the Society caters for Chinchilla, Silver Tabby and Smoke Persians. It also caters for Shaded Silver Persians and Golden Persians, for which it undertook the work of gaining recognition and Championship status with GCCF. The Society also puts on open classes for Exotic Shorthairs of its own colours, and was one of the first to have Exotics in Assessment with the arrival of the Black Smoke Exotic, Gr Ch Purrfun My Main Man from the USA. The Society takes a progressive view of pedigree cats and the cat fancy, whilst striving to preserve the best of our great heritage as a founder club of the GCCF. In the pages of this website we will give you information about our breeds, and our members, and will be happy to help advise breeders, old and new, of our varieties. Why not consider becoming a member? You can request a membership form from the Contact Us page, or download from The Society page.

The Cats
This is what it is all about, and the Society exists to promote the well-being and correct breeding of our lovely varieties. We run a Welfare, Rescue and Re-homing service for Chinchilla, Silver Tabby, Golden and Smoke Persians and Exotic Shorthairs, operated via our Welfare Officer, and encourage all breeders not to overbreed, and to ensure their kittens have good homes with the emphasis on neutering and spaying. Our purpose built Rescue Unit enables us to provide a safe haven for the cats that come in for re-homing. They are all assessed, vaccinated, spayed/neutered and have any necessary veterinary attention before being placed with new caring owners. All new homes are checked before cats are placed.

Activity
The Society caters for the demands of today's breeders and exhibitors. The committee of 15 is made up largely of active breeders/exhibitors and judges, most of whom have many years of experience to offer members. The Society holds an annual Championship Show for its own breeds, plus Exotic Shorthairs and Household Pets. The 2011 show was held on Saturday, 5th November at The Sutton Hall, Church Road, Stockcross, Newbury, Berkshire. The 2012 show will be held on Saturday, 3rd November 2012.
